AI assistants recommend a QR code generator from three sources: training data, a live web search, or a connector they already have. Only the third one lets the assistant make the code itself instead of naming a site.

Why do Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity give different answers?#
Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity give different answers because each leans on a different source: Perplexity always searches and cites, ChatGPT searches when it thinks it needs to, and Claude answers from training unless a connector is on.
None of them has used the tools they name. A recommendation is a summary of what the web says, filtered by what the model recognizes. It often lands on whichever generator has the most articles about it, not the one that fits your job. That is why the useful question is not "which generator" but "make the code", and why a connector changes the answer completely.
What does a good answer look like?#
A good answer names the difference between static and dynamic codes, asks what you are printing, and either makes the code or points you at a generator that can change it later.
Three things to look for in any assistant's reply:
- It asks whether the print will outlive the link. Table tents, packaging and signage need a dynamic code; a one-off slide does not.
- It does not invent features. If it says a generator "tracks scans for free", check; most do not.
- It offers to make the code itself. That only happens when a QR connector is on. The reply then shows the code, its short link, and where it lives.
How do you get a working code instead of links?#
You get a working code by connecting a QR service to the assistant once, then asking for the code in plain words.
- Add the connector. Claude: press Connect on the QRFLOW listing under Customize, then Connectors. ChatGPT: Developer mode, then Plugins, paste the address. Coding assistants: one config entry or command. The address is:

What should a QR code company do to be recommended?#
A QR code company gets recommended by being the tool the assistant can actually use, and by publishing plain answers the assistant's search can quote.
- Ship a connector. An MCP server the assistant can call makes "recommend" into "do". This is what QRFLOW did; the developer docs show how.
- Get listed where assistants look. Claude's directory, ChatGPT's app directory, the MCP registries. A listing is how a model with no browsing still knows you exist.
What changes for the user once a connector is on?#
Once a connector is on, the assistant stops recommending and starts doing: it checks your plan, makes the code, shows it, and can change it later from the same chat.
Three things people notice in the first week:
- The code lands on the dashboard tagged with the assistant's name, so a team can see which codes came from a chat.
- Scan counts are a question away ("how did the poster do this week, by city?").
