What happens if you change your domain after printing

1 minutes

This is the one mistake in the whole product that costs real money, so it is worth being blunt about. The address inside a printed code is permanent. If that address stops working, the code stops working, and the only fix is a new print run.

What actually happens

  • Codes already printed keep asking for the old address. They cannot learn a new one.
  • If you still control the old domain, point it back at us and they work again.
  • If you have let the domain go, those codes are dead and nothing we can do brings them back.
  • Products inside QRFLOW are fine. Your pages, links and scan history are untouched; it is only the printed address that is stranded.

Codes you have not printed yet pick up your current domain automatically, so only stock already made is affected.

How to not be here

  • Use a subdomain like id.yourbrand.com rather than your main website, so a site rebuild cannot touch it.
  • Keep the domain renewing automatically. A lapsed domain is the usual cause.
  • Decide the address before the first print run, not after.

Tip. If you are between domains, print with the shared address rather than one you are about to leave. It is not as good, but it does not expire.
