Find your slug

Open your profile and look at the address: linkedin.com/in/your-slug. Type only the slug (your-slug) into the field above. If the slug is a name followed by numbers, LinkedIn lets you customize it under Edit public profile & URL; a clean slug makes a simpler code. For a company page, use company/your-company.

Where it earns connections

Conferences, first: the last slide of a talk with "Connect with me", the badge, and the card handed over at the drinks afterward. Then anywhere a professional hands someone paper: proposals, the back of a résumé, a booth banner, an email signature as a small image. Say what they'll get: "Connect" is enough; "Follow for hiring updates" is better on a company page. Our LinkedIn QR code generator piece has more on networking with one.

  • Last slide of a talk: a quarter of the screen height, left up during questions.
  • Business card back: 0.9 in (2.2 cm), next to or instead of the email address.
  • Name badge: 1 in (2.5 cm); people scan each other in the queue for coffee.
  • Booth banner: 3 in (8 cm), the company page.
  • Printed résumé or proposal: 1 in (2.5 cm) in the header.

LinkedIn's own QR code

The LinkedIn app shows a QR code for your profile: tap the QR icon at the right of the search bar, then My code. It is an ordinary code of your profile link, so any phone camera opens it, and the same screen has a scanner for reading other people's. Across a table at a conference, that is all you need.

For anything printed, make the code here. You get an SVG for the card and the banner, a caption frame, a code for a company page (the app only does personal profiles), and on Premium a dynamic code you can point at the profile, the company page or an event as roles change, with a scan count per placement.

Why make it dynamic

Job titles change, and so do the pages you'd rather people land on: the profile during a job search, the company page during a launch, an event page while you're speaking. A dynamic code on your business cards and conference slides follows: repoint it and the print stays right. The count tells you whether the slide at the end of a talk or the card at the bar brought more connections.

Dynamic codes are part of Premium, $4 a month. Static vs dynamic, explained.

Step by step

    Type your slug

The part after linkedin.com/in/ (or company/ for a page).

  2. 2

    Caption it

"Connect with me" or "Follow for hiring updates"; the LinkedIn icon frame is ready.

  3. 3

PNG for slides and signatures, SVG for cards and banners.

  4. 4

    Repoint as roles change

On Premium, send the same code to the profile, the company page or an event page as needed.

Questions people ask

How do I make a QR code for my LinkedIn profile?
Type your profile slug (the part after linkedin.com/in/) into the generator here and download the code. Scanning opens your profile with the Connect button.
Where do I find my LinkedIn slug?
In your profile's address bar: linkedin.com/in/your-slug. You can customize it under Edit public profile & URL.
Can I make one for a company page?
Yes: use company/your-company as the slug, or paste the full company page link as a plain link code.
Does the code open the LinkedIn app or the website?
The app, if it is installed; the phone hands linkedin.com links to it and the profile opens with the Connect button. Otherwise the profile opens in the browser, where LinkedIn may ask the visitor to sign in before showing everything.
Is it better than LinkedIn's built-in QR code?
Both open the same profile from any camera. LinkedIn's is a fixed image and only exists for personal profiles. Make one here when it goes on a card, badge or banner (SVG, caption, your colors), when you need a company page code, or when you want to repoint and count it.
Can I count scans?
On Premium, yes: each saved code counts scans by day and device, so you can compare the slide, the badge and the card.
